to a recent article published in The Dresden Transcript (October 2, 1998),
there are currently two different kinds of 1998 plates on the market. The pale
yellow plates were originally sold in Longaberger-owned shops; the other plate,
a dark, yellow (gold) was not authorized by the Company. The first plates shipped
this year were the wrong color yellow & were returned to be destroyed. However,
the company who was manufacturing the plates (Dalzell-Viking) was in the process
of closing & sold those plates to the public. The unauthorized plates are not
accompanied by an official Longaberger box (with gold seal) or product card. Be
careful what you purchase.
